I've made my New Year's Resolution for 2009.
I'm going to write more poetry, in general, and specifically, in order to help me do that, I'm going to write one sestina per week. I was toying with the idea of a sestina a day, but that idea just seems doomed to failure. I think I can handle one poem a week.
A sestina seems to fit that idea perfectly, as each one has seven stanzas. I could write one stanza a day for a week, and then have a completed poem for the week, if I chose to do it that way.
Anyways, I am going to be doing this sestina thing online (to keep me honest, I suppose) here: 52 Sestinas.
Please follow along and help me out!
HOLY SMOKES--You don't mess around:) I'm suddenly having major flashbacks to 1989--Dr. Ron Ellis' Modern Poetry Class and Ezra Pound! Good luck to ya, you aim pretty high.
