Lex peed in the potty! We aren't really potty training yet, but I have been giving him more opportunities to sit his little bottom on the potty. On Friday afternoon, after a diaper change, he sat on the froggy potty and he peed. He was very interested in the pee in the potty, and we did a *very* happy dance of joy. In fact, Daddy walked in the door from work during our dance of joy, and he did a happy dance, too.

I got a new dishwasher, and I didn't even have to light the old one on fire. Which is convenient, because now we are going to try to sell the old one on Craigslist. For like $2. Oh, and the new one is so quiet that there is a light that tells you when it is running, because otherwise, you wouldn't be able to tell. I love it. Love.

We went outside last night to view the Perseid meteor shower. Lex got a good view of the full moon, some stars and a few airplanes. Then he was all tuckered out so I put him to bed. Connor and I stayed out later, and we both saw a nice big meteor with a long tail. So, successful night, in my book.

My New China Cabinet

I found this on Craigslist, and I love, love, love it!

It's big enough for all of our china, and there is room for more. It's in great condition, and it is a very solid piece of furniture.

(Our old china cabinet, which is actually a secretary and *not* a china cabinet, even though that's what we were using it for, wasn't big enough for everything, and has now found a nice new home in the loft.)

When we went to pick this up, I realized that we were heading to same neighborhood where Emily and Aaron live. When we were leaving, we drove past their house, and Megan was outside, so we stopped to talk to Meg and Em, which was a nice little surprise.

So far, this is my best find on Craiglist yet, and now I've been inspired to try to find a new dining room table and chairs to match!

A lovely afternoon

In this video you will see a number of things.

You will see one of the reasons that we go through so much milk around here: we feed one of the neighbor's cats to amuse Connor. This little kitty looks just like the stuffed one that he carries around with him almost everywhere. She had kittens earlier this summer, and they are super cute, too, although I didn't seem them outside just now.

Then, you will see proof that Connor does walk!

Finally, you will see the second thing that I have sucessfully purchased from Craiglist. We bought this slide for $15 the other night. It's a Little Tykes, so it is in really great shape. Those things are practially indestructible. Connor really likes it, though he can't do it himself yet. He can climb up the slide part halfway and then slide down on his belly. That totally counts as fun in my book!

My Weekend

This weekend was pretty good. I did suffer a HUGE disappointment, though, when I finally got ahold of the woman from Craigslist who was selling all of the maternity clothes, as she had sold out of all of the dresses by the time I reached her, which is what I was most interested in. I guess Craigslist is more popular than I thought it was - although Kevin thinks that it is possible that just one person bought all the dresses, as I would have been likely to do the same.

We met up with our friends Carrie and Shawn on Saturday night to watch the NCAA Final Four, and I am happy to report that OSU is going to the championship game tonight. I, however, won't be watching, as it doesn't start until close to 9:30 PM!! I don't know why the sports people keep pushing game times further and further back. Oh well, at least my brackets are still looking okay, as I have OSU winning it all!

Part of the reason that we met up with Carrie and Shawn was to pick up a bucketfull of iris plants that Carrie had dug out of her garden to put in hydrangeas and some irises from her Great-Grandmother. We got the bucket, and there were about 40 plants, which we put into our garden yesterday. Most of them had started to sprout in the bucket already, so I am hopeful that they will still bloom this summer! Carrie says that they are purple.

We did some other gardening this weekend. Kevin had ordered some trees from the National Arbor Day Foundation this winter, and the first shipment arrived on Friday. Needless to say, they weren't exactly what he was expecting. They are pretty much twigs!! I have been taking pictures of them, and I plan on posting a "tree journal" entry in the near future. I'm sure you will join me in laughing when you see what sorry excuses for trees these are!

I am also sorry to report that our big, beautiful butterfly bush is dead. I had trimmed it at the end of the summer, and I think that, along with the grubs we found on its roots, did it in over the winter. But, the good news is that Kevin didn't like where it was planted, as it was planted too close to our deck. (Many of the plants at our house are too close to something; the previous owners never seemed to take into account the fact that the plants would GROW and get bigger when they planted them.) The really good news is that Kevin is going to buy me two more, and we are going to plant them on the other side of our deck, so I will still be able to enjoy butterflies this summer!

I also think that the wine and roses bush that Kevin hacked mercilessly two summers ago when he first got his power trimmer is finally dead. It struggled all of last summer, and it doesn't seem to have any life in it yet this year. We'll probably check its vitals soon, and if it is dead, we are going to put a lilac bush in its place, so that we will have one on both sides of our back yard. (The existing lilac bush is probably the only plant that wasn't planted too close to the fence. The wine and roses bush is WAY too close to the fence, and it was overgrown and blocking the utlity access thing that it was probably planted to hide.)

Other than that, we went to church on Sunday and spent some time with my family. My brother, Chris, is going to be heading to Florida on Friday, and he and Jenn will start looking for apartments. He also has a couple of job interviews. Then, he'll probably come back up for the rest of his stuff, and then officially move to Florida. I'm a little sad that he is moving so far away right before my baby is born, but he probably hasn't even thought of that. I am happy that he and Jenn are going to be together, though. Maybe they will come back to Ohio in July for our cousin's wedding, and get to see the baby then. He and I haven't really been close since we were elementary aged, and I guess now we won't be close for awhile. They are planning to move back to Ohio in a few years time, though, and I think I'd really like that. I'm really glad that they are planning their wedding to be in Columbus, so at least they'll be back for that! Plus, a trip to Florida to visit them once they get settled wouldn't be all bad.

My New Addiction

Recently, I've developed a new habit of browsing Craigslist on a regular basis. I usually check out the baby items, the free stuff, furniture and clothing. I recently discovered the gardening section, and last night, browsing turned into buying.

Someone in our little village was practically giving away tulip bulbs, so Kevin and I went over and picked up 70 of them. We picked a variety of orange and purple bulbs that will match the ones that we alrealdy have. The price was absolutely unbeatable! So, last night, we extended our row of tulips by planting the new bulbs. I know that this isn't the time of year to be planting tulip bulbs, but they had already started to sprout (much like eyes on a potato), so I figured that we should get them into the ground. I don't know if they will flower this year or not, but next year we should have a wonderous display of tulips!

(I've been on this dense planting of tulips kick ever since Kevin took me to the Home & Garden show last month.)

Back to Craigslist: I'm also eyeing a lot of baby clothes for a boy that will be born right around when Connor is due, so that the clothing is seasonally and size appropriate. I might go pick those up this weekend, for the whopping price of $15! And, newborns grow out of clothes so quickly that they can't be worn out, and I shouldn't spend too much on just everyday stuff.

Also, I am thinking of going to Dublin to look at some maternity clothes that a woman is selling for cheap, cheap, cheap, as she seems to have a ton (over 75 outfits!) that appear to be in my size and taste. The clothes I bought at Christmas are starting to get a little bit small, but I wouldn't be able to wear them all summer anyways, as they were mostly pants and 3/4 sleeve shirts. I need spring and summer stuff like shorts, skirts, dresses and short sleeve shirts! After spending nearly $400 last time for enough clothes to make it so that I only had to do laundry once per week, and those only being wearable for a few months, I think I like this new approach of saving some money. (Hooray for $10 dresses, with the ability to haggle the price down if I buy a lot!)

See, this is why I am addicted to Craigslist. Plus, it's kinda like looking through a garage sale without ever leaving my chair, and I find garage sales to be fascinating!
