This is a normal day in that these are the kinds of things that we do all the time. Our days aren't really normal, though, because we do them however we want everyday. So, no two days look exactly alike, but all the days are pretty much exactly alike. This might only make sense if you are a homeschooler.

9:30 AM - Reading the Boy Scout Handbook
10:00 AM - Eating Pancakes and Reading
10:30 AM - Cooking Lessons
Around 11:00 AM - Time to Study!
It's NOON and we are still working
12:30 PM - Still studying, but in all the different places
After a late lunch we are working on Latin, math and writing today.
Then, the final step is piano practice.
This guy is done with school for the day.

Today is actually a special day, because Lex has just now finished his math book and is moving from Life of Fred: Kidneys to Life of Fred: Liver.
And then, Lex's final step of the day is also piano practice:
4:00 PM - Both the kiddos are done for the day.
Some days we start earlier or later and some days we end earlier or later. Some days one works while the other plays and some days they work together. Today was a good mix of everything, which is how most days usually are.
This week at Redstone Academy, we are studying the circulatory system in anatomy.

Connor got so involved in the comedy of his drawing that he forgot that he was supposed to be labeling the items from his vocabulary list in Latin. The fat drunk knight is my favorite.

This week at Redstone Academy, Lex wanted to read all the Curious George books that he could find at the library. Both the boys are somewhat obsessed with the Guinness Book of World Records.
Also, Connor finished reading The Hunger Games and is now working on Catching Fire. He wants to watch the movies once he is done with the books. Lex has also decided to read the books. He's starting The Hunger Games now, but I don't think he likes it as much as Captain Underpants, because he keeps going back to those books instead.
On Monday evening, I took the boys to a comic book store on Route 66 for a brand new Pokemon league. The people who work at the store had assured us that there were tons of players who had been showing up regularly every Monday night, so there would be plenty of people to play with. The boys were excited, but I think we were lied to. Yes, there was evidence of an official Pokemon professor, in that some guy introduced himself as such. There was no other evidence of an actual Pokemon league, and the kids ended up playing against each other. Which we could have done at home. On the other hand, they were able to buy a few new cards at the shop, and I was able to play Pokemon Go. These are things that we would not have been able to do at home. By the way, Route 66 is something of a Pokemon Go mecca, and for that reason alone, I would be willing to take them back on another Monday evening to see if there really are other Pokemon players.
Oh, but wait, just as we were getting ready to leave, another player wandered in. Connor challenged him to a battle, and quickly defeated him. And so we left.
On Tuesday evening, I took the boys to the swimming pool at the student activity center at West Texas A&M University. They love that pool. There is a slide and a lazy river, and a whirlpool area that they refer to either as "The Whirlpool of Death" or "The Giant Toilet." The lazy river has a very strong current, and spending time in this pool is not easy. You can't just stand in one place. It's more like being in the ocean, because the current is always pushing you about. We met some friends there, and the boys were having a great time playing. But after two hours in that heavy current, I made them get out. And they were exhausted. Lex fell asleep on the couch promptly after returning home.
Connor is currently 57 inches tall, and he is eagerly awaiting being tall enough to sit in the front seat of our car. He makes me measure him daily. We are making him wait until he is 5 feet tall, so he has another three inches to grow. Lex keeps telling him that he would grow faster if he would eat his fruits and vegetables. He isn't wrong.
This afternoon I took the boys to the local homeschool chess club. There are always tons of players there. Connor won a couple of games and Lex played with his friend Paul.
Our famous Latin saying this week is "nunc aut numquam." It means "now or never." Which is how this is going to end.
He wrote: "It needed titanium so it went to a cave [and] found none so it called the other one [which had] none so it made its own." Or something to that effect.

The chapter that we are working on in Latin this week is all about kings and queens:
I found a quick seasonal art project that I wanted to do with the boys, and since Nana and Uncle Kevin were here, they got roped into doing a little homeschool art, too. These are the dangers of going to stay with homeschoolers during the school week. You may end up unintentionally learning Latin and doing art projects.
This is the one I did as an example.
