Dragon Con

Kevin and I went to Dragon Con for the first time today. I knew it was a big deal, but I didn't really know.

Dragon Con

It's huge. Like five hotels and two convention centers huge.

Dragon Con

This is the lobby of the Marriott Marquis.

It's where they filmed part of the Hunger Games. It was used as the Tribute Center.

We saw so many puppets and people in costume.

There was a gaming center for Magic and Dungeons & Dragons and board games and computer games and console games.

The local Star Wars cosplay group brought part of the Death Star with them.

I bought stickers!

We only went for one day, but the convention lasts from Thursday to Monday. I'm not sure how anyone has the energy for more than one day of Dragon Con, especially considering that there are basically events around the clock.

Another Mug for My Collection

Although I had been planning to buy Starbucks mugs at all the parks on our trip to Disney last month, I didn't.

First, I totally forgot to look for them when we went to Hollywood Studios.
I guess I was distracted by all the Disney Magic.

But no worries. We have the internet! I ordered this one online.

I love it! Now I have mugs from all four of the Disney Parks in Florida.

Disney After Hours - Hollywood Studios

After our fantastic dinner at Boma, we headed to Hollywood Studios to check in for our After Hours party. We were able to enter the park at 7 PM, and there was only one thing I wanted to do that wasn't going to be open after the park closed at 9 PM, so we headed there first.

That was Muppet*Vision 3D.  I love the Muppets. It was exactly the same as it was when I was a kid.

Then, we headed over and rode Star Tours.  The mechanics of this ride were the same, but the story had been updated, and I really enjoyed the new version.

Next up was Galaxy's Edge.

After exploring the Black Spire Outpost for a while, we had reservations at Oga's Cantina.

I got a Fuzzy Tauntaun.

It was delicious, but it took me a long time to get past that foam that made my lips and tongue numb.

By the time we were done in the Cantina, the park had closed to the general public, so we had to show our wristbands to get into the lines. We rode Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, and then we rode Rise of the Resistance, twice. We basically just walked right onto them. It was amazing!

Me on the Millennium Falcon.

Lex and Connor were the pilots, and I was a gunner.

This ride is such and immersive experience!

After 10 PM, the After Hours Party officially started, so we were able to grab some ice cream and drinks. I chose the Mickey Mouse Ice Cream Sandwich, first.

Then we rode the new ride in the Chinese Theater, Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway. It was so adorable!

We saw Donald and Daisy!

Then we got some popcorn and made our way to Toy Story land, where we rode Toy Story Mania, the Alien Swirling Saucers, and Slinky Dog Dash. We actually had to wait about 20 minutes to ride Slinky Dog, and it was the only ride that we didn't just walk right onto all night long.

Finally, we headed to the other side of the park to ride the Aerosmith Rock 'n' Roller Coaster and the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. We picked up some more treats on the way, and this time I got the strawberry popsicle.

By the time we had finished that, it was 12:30 in the morning, and we decided that since we had ridden all the rides on our list, we could head back to the hotel.
