Fort Amarillo RV Park

Papa Kirk and Grandma Ella brought their camper and came to visit this past week.  They selected a very nice RV park near our house for their camper.  We went and visited them there a few times, and the kids even spent the night in their camper once.



We joked that they bought an Ohio-sized camper, because it was the smallest one there.  All the rest were Texas-sized.



Connor brought Tik to check it all out.



There was even one of the Hoof Prints horses there!







So, this is the fifth horse for our Hoof Prints scavenger hunt, and we even got Grandma Ella in on the action!





The RV park had a wonderful game room where the kids and I played for an entire morning.  We played pool...



...and air hockey...



...and ping-pong and pinball and some other arcade games.

The ducks at the pond were funny.  Tik didn't chase them or growl at them, so that was good.

Amarillo Hoof Prints

So, remember our project of taking pictures with the horses around town?

Well, the boys are still happy whenever we find a horse, but they don't seem as keen to photograph them as they did when we first came up with the idea.  We pass many a horse without stopping.  Or waving.  Or honking.  We just pass them by.

But, Lex agreed to take a photo with a horse this week.  Connor, not so much.

And without further ado, I hereby present the fourth official horse photo for this blog:

This one is called "Reflections of Love."  It's unique because of the little baby horse.  And the mirrors.

I think Lex is posing with hands above his head because I had just read the sign telling him not to touch it because the edges on the horses were sharp.

Spoiler Alert: The Kids are Cavity Free!

Yesterday we went to see the dentist.  And not because someone had a tooth knocked out.  It was just time for their six-month check-up and cleaning.

We found another one of the Hoof Prints horses in front of the dentist's office:



This one is called "Stars & Stripes," and it makes the 3rd official entry in our Amarillo Hoof Prints Scavenger Hunt here on the blog.

Amarillo Hoof Prints

There are more than 100 different horse statues around the city of Amarillo.  They are part of an ongoing project to promote art in public places called Hoof Prints.

The kids and I have decided to do a Hoof Prints photo scavenger hunt.  We are going to take photos with all the different horses.

We've already done two of them:

1.  "Branded USA" at Cavendars:



2.  "Sarge" at the Amarillo Police Department:

Police Department Field Trip

Our homeschool group met with a police officer this past week to talk about safety.  And also so that the kids could check out a police car.  Of course the kids thought that the car was the most important part.

The kids got to climb all around inside the car to check it out.



And the police officer turned on the lights and everything.

Then he showed us some of his gear.  Including a bullet-proof vest.



Of course he let the kids try it on.

This Weekend in Photos

What did we do this weekend?



We played with LEGOs on Friday.  Then we went to the local Japanese Steakhouse for dinner.  Afterwards we went to Cavender's Boot City.

Some of us bought boots and some of us bought hats.

Lex made a waterpark on Minecraft.

Saturday was a day filled with soccer.

And playing Minecraft while waiting for soccer.



Connor finally got to play goalie.





Then we got a pizza for dinner on Saturday night.  I shot a random video when we were picking it up.

On Sunday we finally moved all the extra stuff out of our garage into a storage space.
