In which I sewed six slipcovers

 Slipcovers

Say sewed six slipcovers six times fast.

Slipcovers

Kevin ordered some embroidered chambray upholstery fabric from JoAnn's, and asked me to make slipcovers for the dining room side chairs.

Slipcovers

I was able to make them all in one day!

Rest in Peace

A Cry for Help

Our drip coffee maker, which we have had since we first got married, or maybe even since our engagement, now that I think about it, and is probably somewhere around 17 or 18 years old, has moved on to the great cafe in the sky.

I'll remember all the good times we had together.

We aren't really in a state of caffeine induced emergency here, as we still have our espresso machine.

Kevin has ordered a single serve pour over coffee maker as a replacement, but I'm not sure that is actually a replacement for a 12 cup drip machine. It seems more like a different way to make coffee.

This is not really a problem.

I'm actually toying with the idea of getting a Keurig coffee maker. That's what I would have ordered if I had been the one in charge of ordering the replacement coffee maker.

But that still isn't a drip machine.

Does anyone still buy drip machines, or are they too old fashioned?

Baking on Christmas Eve

Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful.

It is unreasonably cold outside, and it has been for more than 24 hours.

Freezing. Below freezing. With wind.

It's so cold that something happened to our electricity, and the power went out last night. It was out all night long, and when it came on again around 4 AM, it was only about 55 degrees in the house.

It was too cold to sleep, and everyone was awake, so I started baking.

Standing next to the warm oven in a cold kitchen is a good strategy.

More Christmas Baking

I made a quiche for us to eat for lunch before the Christmas Eve service at church.

More Christmas Baking

I made the yule log cake for Christmas dinner, and I baked another batch of chocolate chip cookies, since the first batch had already disappeared.

More Christmas Baking

I also made these peppermint pinwheels, which are so pretty to look at.

More Christmas Baking

They taste good, too.

The Stockings Were Hung

Christmas 2022

by the chimney with care, in hopes that Saint Nicholas soon would be there.

We had our fireplace cleaned this afternoon, so that we can safely enjoy fires in our living room once more.

'Tis the Season!

Look What I Made!

New Slipcovers

I made new slipcovers for our counter-height kitchen chairs!

New Slipcovers

I think I spent about 5 hours working on this project, including picking out the fabric, measuring the chairs, making a pattern, cutting the fabric, and sewing everything together. It was pretty quick and easy.

I like the new pop of color in the kitchen!

The blue matches some of our other kitchen decor and accent colors.

Anna Ruby Falls - Again

Today is the day on which we get a new roof installed. The noise was just too much, so we dropped the dogs off at a nice doggy day care for a quiet play date, and then we headed out of town.

We went to Helen again and found a German restaurant that we hadn't eaten at yet. So, we had lunch at Hofer's Bakery and Cafe. The food was amazing, and we ate a ton of it.

So, to get a little exercise after our huge meal, we went to Anna Ruby Falls and hiked up to see the water falls again.

There was a very pretty rainbow at the base of the falls today.

I always think falls are so peaceful, but honestly?

They are really LOUD!

Fallingwater

When I saw this puzzle online, I knew that I had to buy it.

The puzzle is actually double-sided!
Connor helped me flip the puzzle over so that we could see the blueprint side.
We only had to repair a few pieces after we flipped it.
We were both surprised at how well the flipping of the puzzle went.

Do you remember when we went to visit Fallingwater?

Gaming Command Central

Alternative Title:  Still Life with Trappings of Two Boys

Playing Cards

After a week of Spring Break At Home, this is what the kitchen table looks like.  We have been playing Cards Against Humanity, Solar Draft, the Harry Pottery Trading Card Game, and Pokemon cards for a week now.  We also have the drum practice pads.  Those are used early, and often.

Happy Spring Break!  Stay at Home!

Everybody loves Penguino.

We decorated the outside first.
The weather was warm, and I didn't want to miss it.
