Lex finished his logic text book about the informal fallacies last week, so I ordered him the next text in the series. He is going to start an introduction to formal logic now.

Amicalola Falls
Today we met with our friends and went on a hike up a mountain.
We hiked about one and a half miles up the mountain.
Then we climbed down hundreds of stairs to get back to the bottom.
Happy Hiking!

Getting Ready for 7th Grade
Lex is going to be a 7th grader this year!!
Today I spent some time printing the materials I purchased electronically for him to use. We are still waiting on one of his workbooks (logic) to be delivered, but hopefully it will arrive soon.
This is for his humanities course.

We are going to be reading some folktales and myths in Spanish.
7th Grade Science in Spanish
Connor is taking Japanese in high school, so Lex asked if we could learn Japanese, too.
The goal is obviously a trip to Tokyo.
Especially to Universal Studios where they have built the new Super Nintendo World.
Stay tuned. School starts after Labor Day!

Let's go to Mars!
Today's edition of Summer camp at home is brought to you by Google, 4-H, and the Old Time Candy Company.
Because when you go on a long trip, you need to buy lots of candy. I thought a trip to space would be best with Nerds, Pop Rocks, and Air Heads.
So, I ordered all of these things:
And today we enjoyed them all. First we played a game to see where we all landed on Mars. I crashed more than anyone else. Then, we built a Mars rover:
Finally, we played a game to grow food on Mars. Our colonies were a success!

The End is Near
I can always tell that the end of summer is approaching when we finish our Sassafras Science book. We finished studying Geology today.
(We also finished reading Sweet & Sour Tales from China.)
Here is a sample of Connor's work (because homeschoolers are supposed to keep these kinds of records):
