Monday After Spring Break

Today we returned to homeschool after Spring Break. The kids DID NOT want to do school, so I made a deal with them that they didn't have to do the regular school things as long as they stayed busy and learned something.

Here is what we ended up doing today:

First, we watched an instructional video to learn how to do a magic trick with a deck of cards.  (I bought the kids some playing cards for their Easter baskets because they were Star Wars themed and they looked cool, but it turns out that they came from a magic company, and we got a free video with the purchase.) It's easy enough, but it is going to take a lot of practice to be able to do it well.  Stay tuned for that.

Monday Monday

Lex built a Star Wars Lego featuring Kylo Ren.

Monday Monday

Both boys played piano, and Lex read this book about Mozart.
Connor started taking some online guitar lessons from Fender.

Monday Monday

Lex read this book about the Brothers Grimm.
He also read a math comic book and some of his history novel.

Monday Monday

Connor chose the book about Muhammad Ali.
He also read a little bit about the argumentum ad misericordiam (the appeal to pity fallacy) in his logic book.
Both boys read a simple Spanish picture book and translated it.

Monday Monday

We finished our book of One-Hour Mysteries today.
The boys solved the final crime.
It was a murder!

In which Lex sets up a Lemonade Stand

It was at least 100 degrees today, and Lex has been wanting to set up a lemonade stand for a while now, so it seemed to him like the perfect opportunity.  He scouted out this perfect location and got to work.  He made $30 selling lemonade!

Lemonade and Magic

A local magician stopped by for a glass of lemonade and did a fantastic trick for Lex.
He held a match inside his hand and blew the smoke from the fire out of his mouth!
