High Museum of Art

Kevin and I visited the High Museum of Art to see two special exhibits. One was ancient Nubian art and artifacts, like these:

The other special collection was much larger, and full of Samurai art and artifacts from Japan.

The End is Nigh

The end of the school year is upon us. While the last day of school technically isn't until May 25th, Connor is done with everything. He only needs to attend two more classes for the year. He has to give a presentation in one class on one day, and he has to attend that same class a second time to listen to others present. He basically has about 3 hours of school left for 10th grade.

He had to make two visual aids for his presentation, and I think he did a fantastic job.

Lex is nearly finished with all of his homeschool books, too.

He just got a new one to use over the summer, to prepare him for his math placement test, since he is going to take one over the summer before going to high school.

Family Friday

Kevin's hand is the widest. 

Lex's fingers are the longest.

Connor and I have basically the same sized hands.

Moon Cactus

I went to the store today to buy Hydrogen Peroxide, and when I walked in the front door, these cute little cactus plants caught my attention. 

And then I noticed what they were called. 

Do you see that?

A MOON CACTUS.

Just like the one I painted yesterday.

So, I had to buy it.

Moon Cactus.

I mean really. I must have known about them in my subconscious, but I can't recall ever knowing about a moon cactus before I painted it.

In Which I Paint the Moon

There was one last square left to paint on my canvas, and Lex suggested that I paint the moon.

I decided that the moon was basically a desert, so I added a cactus to my moonscape.

There is a little yellow bloom on my cactus.

And now, the canvas that I have been doodling on with paint is completely full.

It's a 6-in-1 Masterpiece of sorts.

In which I painted a moose

This week at Redstone Academy

Lex finished his Astronomy book for science, 

and he finished this geography book about Australia and Oceania.

He will begin studying Biology and Antarctica next.

We drew some cute little Baby Yoda Santas.

Only one more week of school before Christmas!

This Week at Redstone Academy

Lex finished his Africa Geography workbook, and began the Europe version.

I drew some gems to use with my VIPKID classes, and Lex offered to help me color them.

Connor wrote a paragraph about life during the Great Depression after reading his novel (No Promises in the Wind) and doing some research. 

Lex drew some fantastic Pokemon pictures for art class.







Lex will be reading One Thousand and One Arabian Nights next.

Lex has begun the final section of his science text book, so I ordered the last Sassafras Science Adventure book for the boys.  They have been completing one of these science books every year during the summer as part of our "summer camp" at home.  I think we may start it a little early this year.
