The End of An Era

I have been using Shutterfly for ages and ages.
Since the dawn of the internet.
For more than a decade.

I have been posting my photos to a Shutterfly Share Site.
It's like an index of my life.
It brings me great joy.
It was very useful, like a filing system of my own history.
It freed up space in my memory for other things.

And now it's done. Over. Goodbye.
Shutterfly is shutting down all the Share Sites.
They gave us warning, but not a lot of options.
There is nothing I can do to save it.

I didn't even bother adding my December or Christmas 2022 photos, because I knew the site was doomed.
It seemed pointless.

So, today, I finally decided on what I wanted to do to preserve my Share Site.
I scrolled through everything and captured the screen on my phone.
It's not great, but it is what it is.
A memorial to my photos.

RIP My Shutterfly Share Site

It's Friday

...so here are some comments to wrap up the week.

Tonight, when I was putting Lex to bed, he said, "Mommy, I love you.  I want to marry you.  When I grow up, I'm going to marry you in a wedding."  I didn't bother explaining to him about me being married to Daddy.  I figured that we could get to that another time, and not distress him as I was trying to get him to go to sleep.

You haven't received our Christmas card yet?  That might be because I haven't ordered them yet.  I created four or five of them on Snapfish, but I can't decide which one to order.  I also have brand loyalty issues preventing me from actually ordering Christmas cards from Snapfish, because I am a loyal Shutterfly consumer.  But alas, we get airline miles if we order from Snapfish and we don't if we go with Shutterfly instead...

it's ridiculous, I know.

Speaking of ridiculous, Lex just woke up screaming for me.  I went up there and he was crying and so I picked him up.  He was yelling, "but I love Christmas!" and I calmed him down, and then I realized that we were both very warm and wet.  He peed on us.  Which is far from ordinary.  And he has a fever.

I'm not making that up.  I just had to change my clothes and start a load of wash, mid-blog post.

And Lex is apparently having fever-induced nightmares about our Christmas card situation.

Don't worry, buddy, I love Christmas too.  And you.

Photos from South Carolina & Florida Vacation

Dear Diary:
Yes, it took a really long time to post these pictures from our vacation in April. I can't believe that it's been almost two months since then. It was such a great time, it seems like just yesterday!
Love,
Me

FPC Butterflies April 2011

We went for our annual visit to the Blooms & Butterflies exhibit at the Franklin Park Conservatory. Connor was very interested in using my camera, and since I was only using my point-and-shoot, I decided to let him take control of the photography for a good portion of our trip. I think he did a pretty good job with the camera. See?
