Redstone Academy Summer Camp Update

I know that this says Perry the Platypus, but I swear, there is no student enrolled under that name.

Redstone Academy Summer Camp

Lex hasn't started the new school year yet. We've been working on his summer camp assignments.

This book was great!

Turing Tumble - If/Then Computing

Today the boys worked together to build a mechanical model of an if/then computer statement.

(Turing Tumble Challenge 18)

Oh yeah, this week was week 1 of our Summer Camp at Home.

We have also been reading our Sassafras Science adventure book about Astronomy and working on our SciDat log books.  (SciDat is the clever name for the science data log books.)

The Last Day of School

Today is officially the last day of 6th Grade and 8th Grade homeschool at our house.

We played some Scrabble:

This is a serious game of Scrabble, obviously.

I bought the boys some Italian cake bites as a treat:

They ate all the cake bites before I got a photo.  I suppose that means they were delicious.

The boys bought me a special one dollar proof coin featuring Christa McAuliffe.

It's so cool and shiny.

HAPPY SUMMER!

Redstone Academy Update of the Week

The idea is to try to copy this painting into a rectangle on the canvas.

Day Two of Testing

Photos, or it didn't happen, am I right?

Today, I kept my hands busy while I was watching over the testing process.

Testing Time

It is time once again for the boys to take a nationally standardized test in order to comply with state homeschool regulations.

And so, here we are on day one of testing.

Connor is taking the Standford Achievement Test for Grade 8.

Lex is taking the same test, but for Grade 6.

We shall complete the rest of the test tomorrow.  Best wishes, boys!  Do your best.

This week at Redstone Academy

Another week is done and we are getting closer to summer!

Connor has finished reading The Diary of Anne Frank.

Lex illustrated this poem beautifully.

Kevin bought an AI developer kit so we can create our own AI program.

We haven't used it yet, because we have to order some cables to connect it to the things.

Connor is still studying Geometry.

Lex has finished 6th Grade Science.

Lex is working on Europe for Geography.

Monday Morning Movie

...and a snack.

Kevin bought me a Disney cookbook for Easter.

This morning we ate Kronk's Spinach Puffs and watched The Emperor's New Groove.

Happy Monday!

Beware the Groove!

This Week at Redstone Academy

Lex finished his Africa Geography workbook, and began the Europe version.

I drew some gems to use with my VIPKID classes, and Lex offered to help me color them.

Connor wrote a paragraph about life during the Great Depression after reading his novel (No Promises in the Wind) and doing some research.

Lex drew some fantastic Pokemon pictures for art class.

Lex will be reading One Thousand and One Arabian Nights next.

Lex has begun the final section of his science text book, so I ordered the last Sassafras Science Adventure book for the boys.  They have been completing one of these science books every year during the summer as part of our "summer camp" at home.  I think we may start it a little early this year.

See you next week!

I Love the Stretching Portraits at the Haunted Mansion

The Haunted Mansion is one of my favorite rides at one of my favorite places.  And, the Stretching Portraits are one of my favorite parts.  When I saw this puzzle set at the online Disney Parks Gift Shop, I bought it immediately.  No regrets!

My puzzle and Lex's homeschool sharing a table

So amusing!
