It's Friday

...so here are some comments to wrap up the week.

Tonight, when I was putting Lex to bed, he said, "Mommy, I love you.  I want to marry you.  When I grow up, I'm going to marry you in a wedding."  I didn't bother explaining to him about me being married to Daddy.  I figured that we could get to that another time, and not distress him as I was trying to get him to go to sleep.

You haven't received our Christmas card yet?  That might be because I haven't ordered them yet.  I created four or five of them on Snapfish, but I can't decide which one to order.  I also have brand loyalty issues preventing me from actually ordering Christmas cards from Snapfish, because I am a loyal Shutterfly consumer.  But alas, we get airline miles if we order from Snapfish and we don't if we go with Shutterfly instead...

it's ridiculous, I know.

Speaking of ridiculous, Lex just woke up screaming for me.  I went up there and he was crying and so I picked him up.  He was yelling, "but I love Christmas!" and I calmed him down, and then I realized that we were both very warm and wet.  He peed on us.  Which is far from ordinary.  And he has a fever.

I'm not making that up.  I just had to change my clothes and start a load of wash, mid-blog post.

And Lex is apparently having fever-induced nightmares about our Christmas card situation.

Don't worry, buddy, I love Christmas too.  And you.

What Dreams May Come

Connor has been having some interesting dreams lately, and he doesn't realize that they are only dreams.

Last week, upon waking, he ran to the window to check if the hot air balloons and monsters were coming. He told me a long story about the hot air balloons landing in our backyard with monsters in the basket.

A few days ago, he dreamed that we bought him a new train set. He looked high and low all morning trying to find where I hid the train while he was asleep. I kept telling him that it was all a dream, but I don't think that sunk in. Have you ever described the dream process to a two-year old? I tried. I bet it would have been funny to another adult listening, but fortunately, no one else was around to hear my poor attempts.

Last night, he was talking in his sleep. He was crying about going downstairs. I hushed him back to sleep and didn't think anything else of it. Until this morning. When he woke up, he told me that there was a shark in the garage, and he threw a fit about going downstairs. He told me that the shark was going to bite him and that it had broken Daddy's car.

Weird Dream

A few nights ago, I dreamed that I had a bunch of open sores on the palm of my right hand. Using a nailgun, I shot a nail into the biggest, roundest one, because I WANTED to. As soon as I had done it, I realized that it was a really stupid thing to do, and it hurt, but I left the nail in the sore.

Last night, I dreamed that the nail was still in the palm of my hand, but I wouldn't let anyone try to pull it out, because I knew that it was going to hurt, and because I could just FEEL that it wasn't time for it to come out yet.

Now that I've been thinking about it, I realize that this is some sort of bizarre pregnancy dream, and I wouldn't be surprised if I keep dreaming about having this nail in my hand until I'm ready for "it" to come out, where the "it" is both the nail in my dream and the baby in real life.

Strange, huh?
