Today we built a VEX Robotics Catapult.

Little Bunny

I ordered a Totoro plush to stand in as a bunny in the Easter basket situation.  But, it was delivered late.  After Easter.  These things happen sometimes.

When it arrived, I gave it to Lex.  He noticed that the bottom was filled with a bean bag for stability, and the next thing I knew, we were kicking it around the house like a hacky sack.  Which is fine.

But Tik, he snatched it from us mid-game, and claimed it as his own.  Which is also fine.

Poppy is also of the opinion that this bunny belongs to the dog.

The Last Day of Summer

 Today is Labor Day, aka the Last Day of Summer.

Lex watched Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.

We are currently reading Young Fu of the Upper Yangtze.  We will continue reading this book even after school starts, because it's really good.  We may even pick some more books to read off of this list in the future.

I'm sure that we will read the book about Genghis Khan when we finally get around to watching the new Mulan movie.  

In which we try to figure out how to fly a self-flying drone

Papa Kirk and Grandma Ella sent Connor a new drone for his birthday.  Minor mischief ensues.

Beyblades are Back!!

There is much battling, Beyblade constructing, and cartoon watching going on here.

Sphero

Instead of building an obstacle course to program the Sphero to navigate, Lex just decided to use our house as the obstacle course.  We put a little monkey sticker on the rug to mark the starting point (bonus information:  it is a scratch-n-sniff sticker that smells like bananas).

What we do on the weekend

Connor goes to band practice, and Lex and I eat Pho and drink boba tea.

Amazon packages get delivered with weekend treats.

Connor got a new synthesizer, and Lex got a Sphero Sprk.

The dogs have mixed feelings about the Sphero.  I can't tell if they love it or hate it.  

I'm not sure they know.

Three Little Dinos

Have you met Dino?  He is the mascot for VIPKID.  All the kids love him.  I earned the dog dino last year during the Year of the Dog.  I have already earned the pig dino this year for the Year of the Pig.

Yes.  I get paid in both money and stuffed dinos.  It's a perk.  I love my job with VIPKID.

New Toys!

Today, I found a gift card in the bottom of my purse.  So, I took the kids to the store, and let them pick out some fun things to do.

Connor bought a new Nerf gun.  Always a solid choice.  They agreed to buy an automatic card shuffler together.  Another solid choice.  Lex chose a new board game.

We have quite the collection of Monopoly games, but this one is my new favorite.

It doesn't last forever, and there is no paper money.

Each character has special powers.

I recommend it, especially if you like Mario and Monopoly.  

You can't go wrong, really.

Connor has brought the Rubik's Cubes out of the drawer.

The second age of All Rubik's Cubes All the Time has now begun.
