We went to the movies, again

There are so many good movies coming out this summer!

I’m a Barbie Girl

Lex and I went to see the Barbie movie.

I laughed so hard. It was such a funny movie.

But it was also a lovely social commentary about the empowerment of women and the need for women to support one another.  It was about the value of community, and treating others with kindness, and following your dreams.

Lex said that he was glad all the feminism stuff wasn't too serious and angry.

He said it seemed like everyone really had a lot of fun making this movie.

He gave it an 8 out of 10.

I agree. I think it's a solid 8, and maybe a 9.

In which Kevin & Isha get Married, Part Two

Then, the Baraat:

There was a lot of drums, and dancing, and smoke sticks.

It got a bit crazier than The Horse Guy would have liked, and he literally told me,

"They know they aren't supposed to set off so much smoke. It scares the horse. It's a wild animal. It could go crazy and kill everyone here."

Oh My God.

It's a horse, not a lion. Chill.

Also he told me, "Step away from the horse, Miss," about a dozen times.

Nevermind that my job was to be right by my brother's side for the whole Baraat.

So, that was The Paranoid Horse Guy.

The ceremony was fantastic.

There was the part when I got into a fight over my brother's shoes with way too many bridesmaids.

That was the part when the shoes got destroyed and I got all muddy and bloody.

It was brutal.

There is video.

I'm told that is how it supposed to go.

There was the part when I put the red dots on Kevin and Isha's foreheads during the ceremony.

I was super nervous, but Janele was there, too.

Then there was the part when I tied their dupattas together.

I was really super nervous, and I had to do it alone, and I didn't realize that I was supposed to use three of a certain type of knot, but it all got done properly in the end.

They stayed tied together for the rest of the ceremony, just like they were supposed to, so Kevin and Isha can't blame me if they fight a lot in the future!

Then, there was the reception:

Jacks! Jacks! Jacks!

Jacks, Jacks, Jacks

It all started with a writing assignment about baseball and boxing.

Jacks, Jacks, Jacks

Jacks, Jacks, Jacks

Lex started singing "Take me out to the ball game...take me out to the crowd...buy me some peanuts and APPLE JACKS..."  Which made me crazy, so he did it some more.  I decided it was time to show him just what Apple Jacks and Cracker Jacks are.  And, jacks, too, for good measure.

The Child

While I was shopping at Costco this weekend, I found a small child near the checkout and decided to bring it home on a whim as a surprise for the family.  Don't worry, it wasn't just any child.  It was The Child.

I opened the box in the garage and brought The Child in.  No one noticed, so I just sat him at the dinner table with us.  It was a surprise when I called them all to eat!

After dinner, Lex said, "This is mine now," and took The Child with him.

Since then:
