Certified Puncher
Connor needed to have a tooth pulled today. It was a baby molar that didn't come out when his adult molar came in. It got pushed out of the way and detached on one side only, so it basically just rotated 90 degrees, pointing at the inside of his gum on the outside of his mouth. And it would NOT come out. He wiggled it and pulled on it for a month. He even let me try to yank it out multiple times, but it was not going to come out without a trip to see the dentist.
Well, Lex really thought he could get it out. He just wanted to punch Connor in the face and knock his tooth out. He even went as far as to claim that he was a certified puncher.

He has a certificate and everything.
No, we didn't let him punch Connor in the face to knock out his tooth. We took him to the dentist to have it pulled in a more responsible and controlled (read: expensive) manner.
You're welcome, Connor. Sorry, Lex. Maybe next time. (But probably not.)

No Cavities!
Today the boys and I went for a checkup and cleaning at the dentist. There were no cavities, so I let the kids pick out some prizes afterwards at Target.
Connor selected a fabulous new board game (Bears vs. Babies) by the same game makers as one of our current favorite games (Exploding Kittens).
Lex selected a very on-topic new game: Crocodile Dentist.
Both games are hilarious and fun. I approve.

Easter/April Fools
This year Easter landed on April Fools Day for the first time since 1945. Kevin and I decided that we had to do something wonderful and memorable.
So, we did.
After the kids went to bed, we set up a Christmas tree and the stockings. We wrapped up their Easter baskets and chocolate bunnies to look like Christmas presents. We filled the stockings with Easter candy.
Kevin even set out a plate for Santa with carrots for his reindeer.
The next morning, we dressed in our Christmas pajamas and pretended that it was Christmas morning!
Connor realized that it was an April Fools prank right away, but Lex was really confused about why Santa was stealing the Easter Bunny's thunder for a while.
Connor got a new computer case. It's a little bigger than his old one.

So, before you watch this next video, you need to know that Connor had a very loose molar that was causing him some trouble since the day before. It was ready to come out, but he couldn't get it out. In fact, he cracked it and part of it fell out, and the rest was in a weird spot that was making it hard for him to talk and impossible for him to eat. He didn't eat any Easter candy until later that day when he finally got it out. There was blood, but the tooth fairy brought him money two nights in a row. $5 for the partial tooth the first night, and $10 when he got the rest out the next night.
After we were done with all the Easter gifts, Kevin played another prank on the boys. He said he was going to start the movie Hop, but instead, he put in the new It movie. We watched it until Georgie met his gruesome end, but then we turned it off, because it was too scary. Connor had fled the scene because he hates scary movies. Lex probably would have watched the whole thing. But, we watched Justice League instead.
I dyed the pancakes to match the plates.
Lex got a new gaming headset.
Connor got a new computer case. It's a little bigger than his old one.
Selfie in the Church drop-off line
After church we went to the movies and watched Ready Player One. When we got home, we had an Easter Egg hunt.
After that, we watched Daddy's Home 2. Apparently the box that the computer case came in was the perfect spot to watch the movie.
Happy Easter and April Fools!

Connor & The Tooth Fairy
Connor lost a tooth on Tuesday.
He has a long history of losing his lost teeth. He can't keep track of them very well at all.
This time, it was very nearly my fault that the tooth be misplaced, but at the last minute, I realized what I was looking at and decided not to actually throw it away.
Exhibit A:

Exhibit A:
This is what Connor left on the kitchen counter will all the dirty dishes and other used napkins and all the wrappers and boxes and things that needed throwing away after lunch.
But, I did NOT throw his tooth away and he was able to put it under his pillow for the tooth fairy.
The tooth fairy came that night. But Connor had already forgotten about it.
It wasn't until the evening after the second morning, when I was helping him look for his lost iPhone that he found the money under his pillow.

It Looks Like February 14th
To celebrate Valentine's Day this year, I gave the boys some heart-shaped chocolates, and then loaded them into the car to visit the dentist.
True story.
Lex bought his multiplication workbook with him so that he could do his school work while waiting for the dentist.
The kids wanted burgers and milkshakes after we were done, so we headed to Shake Shack for the first time.

All is well and everyone is cavity free!

Tooth Fairy Two-for-One Deal
These boys could not be more different when it comes to their teeth.
Connor will baby a loose tooth for months until it finally falls out on its own, well after it probably should have. He has a full set of wiggly molars, and two of them finally fell out (while he was eating a sandwich).
Lex, on the other hand, cannot stand a wiggly tooth, and he will work on it nonstop until it falls out. He's very quick about it. When he realized that Connor was going to get money from the Tooth Fairy for not just one, but two teeth, he decided that he wasn't going to be left out. Nevermind that it was already bedtime.
He simply found the wiggliest-but-not-really-wiggly tooth in this mouth, and set about pulling it out. It took him about 15 minutes, and there was only a small amount of blood. Then he stuck it right under his pillow and went to bed.
Thanks, Tooth Fairy!

November Nonsense: Part VIII
The boys and I visited our new dentist in Atlanta today, and since none of us had any cavities, we went out to Alon's to celebrate.
The desserts there are magical.
Also, when we got home and dumped out our little dentist goody bags, we found that our new dentist was very generous with the free toothbrushes and sample size toothpaste.

Happy 8th Birthday, Lex!!
In honor of Lex's big day, Connor lost a tooth. Getting the tooth fairy involved on a birthday is a special thing, I guess. The more the merrier.
This was also the day that all the boxes from our move got picked up out of the driveway. We had to schedule a special pickup to get them taken away. The box fort had grown quite significantly since that first night, and I was so glad to be rid of the boxes. But then Kevin ordered this new recliner, and wouldn't you know it, but it came in a giant cardboard box. The universe keeps giving me boxes, you guys.
This year Lex's birthday fell on Friday, the 13th, so he asked for a Friday the 13th cake.
He stuck four candles in each of the eye holes for Jason's mask. So now this very scary horror film guy now has flaming eyes. Even better.
This is what we call Camp Poppy. We set it up in our master bathroom, because there isn't anything in there she can get into. Lex wanted to sleep in Camp Poppy, too, so we got his sleeping bag and camp cot set up.
Adorable puppy
Lex said Poppy was the best Birthday gift ever.

Just don't call him the toothless wonder. He doesn't like that.
Tonight while I was walking Tik, a little red haired boy with no shoes on came running out to find me. There was a little blood, and he was very proud, because he had pulled out his loose tooth.
This tooth had only been loose, to my knowledge, for a day or two. He is not one to wait for a wiggly tooth to fall out on its own. He makes it happen.
And now the toothfairy must do what the toothfairy must.

Three Teeth in One Week!
Tonight when he was brushing his teeth before bed, Lex informed me that he had *another* lose tooth. And then he must have gone to bed and spent the entire time that he was supposed to be falling asleep working on getting it out, because a while later, and much after his bedtime, he reappeared to inform us that he had lost his tooth!
This child has now lost three teeth in the span of one week. Soon we will be referring to him as Toothless, like his favorite dragon from How to Train Your Dragon.
In semi-related news: he has been considering having a How to Train Your Dragon birthday party in October for some time now.
Well, after posing for photos for me, on his way back to bed, Daddy asked him to show him his tooth for a few photos. And somehow during this second photo shoot, Lex lost his tooth.
He was standing in the living room and he dropped it. There aren't that many places it could go, I swear, but we could not find this tooth. I think our house was built on some sort of tooth black hole or Indian tooth burial ground with mystical tooth disappearing powers. So, Lex wrote a note to the tooth fairy, just like all the ones that Connor had to write a few years ago:
Spoiler alert: He only got $10. This tooth fairy thinks $25 for a tooth is a little steep. Especially at the rate that he seems to be losing them.
And here I thought he had been sleeping.

Happy Easter!!
The night before Easter, Connor got ready for bed and declared that he was going to fall asleep as fast as possible so that when we woke up in the morning it would be Easter. Then he asked me if it was all right for him to wake everyone up early. After some negotiations, we settled on no sooner than 6:00 AM. Of course, he woke up at 4:00, but he let the rest of us sleep until 6:00. And by the time he woke us up, he was really ready for his basket and to hunt for all the eggs.
No, no one knows what happened to their legs. Also, before we realized that they were supposed to be Star Wars figurines, and only the Captain Cassian figurine had been discovered, we were trying to make sense of him in terms of Easter. I mean, it's not obvious that he is from Star Wars. And thus, Machine Gun Jesus was born and made a part of our Easter celebrations this year.
For the record, the kid's memory verses sound a lot funnier when a machine-gun-wielding Jesus is pretending to say them.
Also, according to Lex, in the battle between Darth Vader and Machine Gun Jesus, Machine Gun Jesus is the winner.
The Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny are taking it in turns to visit our house this weekend.
The boys each got a new squirt gun in their basket.
Well, that escalated quickly.
My mom sent some Star Wars chocolate eggs with figures from the movie Rogue One inside.

Of course, we also had plenty of candy and Pokemon cards.
Lex actually lost another tooth while eating jelly beans!
That's two teeth in one Easter weekend.
All I want for Easter is my two front teeth.
