I think these flowers are really pretty, with a very threatening sounding name.
They are also called Lenten Roses, since they usually bloom during Lent. Of course, a flower with a threatening name must be given a more innocent nickname.
I found these at the Reading Park next to the library. Little Lenten Rose bushes.

Last night, the boys and I took Nana and Grandpa down to the City Springs area for a fun Friday night concert. We had a delicious dinner at Flower Child and spent some time at the park listening to the live music.
Today, I took Nana out hunting for Pokemon, and we ended up in another park.

Then, I heard some more live music, so we called Grandpa to meet us for lunch at the pub so that we could eat and enjoy the band.
It turns out that the pub was hosting a Canada Day celebration! It was super cute, and all the songs being played by the cover band were originally by artists that hail from Canada like Justin Bieber and Celine Deon.
I went to the store today to buy Hydrogen Peroxide, and when I walked in the front door, these cute little cactus plants caught my attention.
And then I noticed what they were called.
Do you see that?
A MOON CACTUS.
Just like the one I painted yesterday.
So, I had to buy it.
Moon Cactus.
I mean really. I must have known about them in my subconscious, but I can't recall ever knowing about a moon cactus before I painted it.
There was one last square left to paint on my canvas, and Lex suggested that I paint the moon.
I decided that the moon was basically a desert, so I added a cactus to my moonscape.
There is a little yellow bloom on my cactus.
And now, the canvas that I have been doodling on with paint is completely full.
It's a 6-in-1 Masterpiece of sorts.

Today is my birthday! I'm 40 years old. Forty.
Kevin set up a scavenger hunt for my gifts. He bought me a cryptex and gave me clues to open it. I think it took me about a half hour to open it, and then there were more clues to lead me around the house to all of my gifts. It was fun!
I'm very excited about this Edgar Allen Poe puzzle.
Kevin also bought a new trivia game for us to play, where all the topics had to do with things from the past forty years or the number forty. There was a question about how many points the word "forty" was worth in the game of Scrabble, and I knew the answer because I had seen it on this photo prop just before we started playing. My mom hadn't seen the photo prop, so she just thought I was a Scrabble genius.
Forty is worth 11 points.
