I was an elf once

So, after dressing my virtual self up like an elf, I remembered that I once dressed up as an elf in real life.

As a bit of backstory, I need to tell you two things: (1) Our high school shared a building with an elementary school, and (2) I was a member of the Key Club in high school.

One year, as a Key Club project, we decided that it would be fun to dress a member up as Santa, and go to the elementary school and take polaroids of all the little kids sitting on Santa's lap. Well, at the time, I was dating the guy who was going to dress up as Santa, and every Santa needs an elf, so my mom made me an elf costume. She really did a nice job, too. I remember that the skirt was pointy at the bottom, and at the end of each little point, she had attached a bell. So, whenever I moved, I rang the bells, like a cat or something. It was a hugely good time, as we got out of classes for the afternoon, and the little kids really had fun.

My mom can whip up some good costumes at the drop of the hat. She made almost all the costumes for our last Christmas play at church two years ago. (They just ran the exact same play last year.) This year they are doing a new play at church. I wonder if my mom is currently in the process of making new costumes, or if they are going to re-use the ones she made for the last play. I'm sure re-using them would be possible, as just about every Christmas play has Mary, Joseph, Wisemen, Shepards, Barn Animals and Angels.

I suppose I should call her and ask her about it. Come to think of it, I haven't actually talked to my family in about 2 weeks. I haven't been feeling good enough to get up for church on Sunday mornings, and Kevin has been fielding the phone calls from family wondering how I am doing lately.
