Goodbye Wendy's

The very first Wendy's restaurant is going to be closing on Friday, and Sara and I decided to eat there one last time today at lunch. It was incredible how many people had the exact same idea; the place was packed! People were walking around with cameras taking pictures of everything and looking at all the memorabilia on the walls for one last time.

Since I found out that the store was closing, I've been having dreams about the old COSI. (Just in case you don't make the connection, the old COSI was right across the street, and we used to eat at Wendy's all the time when we were COSI Volunteers.) Anyways, I think I've determined that the closing of Wendy's is making me re-live the closing of the original COSI in a way that I didn't experience when it actually happened, because I was too involved with the transition to the new building. I'm only now feeling sadness at the closing of the original COSI. At the time, I was the Master of Ceremonies for the groundbreaking of the new building (along with Tobin - and I totally didn't steal your line, Tobin, if you are reading this!), and I took part in the parade to "move" the old stuff into the new building. During the transition, when both buildings were closed, I worked on the new emergency management plan for the new building, and I staffed the sign in desk for the construction workers at the site. I was too busy and excited for the new building to be disappointed in the loss of the old COSI.

But, now I'm feeling that loss. Two nights ago, I dreamed about the second floor: carding the wool and spinning it into thread while wearing a historical costume. I also dreamed about the weather theater on the other side of the floor. Last night, I had a crazy dream with all sorts of other COSI people in it at the same time (even though they didn't all work there at the same time), and I was doing an EG show. I remembered most of the script, even though I haven't done an EG show in years. (The EG show was the one with the Van de Graff generator that made your hair stand up on end.)

Being a COSI Volunteer was such an awesome experience for me. Hopefully, I'll dream about doing a planetarium show tonight, because that was always a ton of fun. :)
