Kevin and I watched Superman Returns last night on DVD. I remember watching the first Superman movies when I was a child, but I must admit that I can't remember much about the Superman mythology, and that hindered a huge part of my viewing of this movie, as nothing really made sense. The movie didn't take the time to explain *anything* and I needed it to.
Also, I have mixed feelings about this Superman. He does a great job saving people, but he is a bit of a peeping tom, and he left Lois without saying goodbye and broke her heart. Then, it turns out that he is a deadbeat dad...because Lois has a son with his super abilities! What kind of hero is that? He knocked Lois up, left without saying goodbye, returns and starts spying on Lois, and ends up sneaking into his son's room in the middle of the night. Talk about C.R.E.E.P.Y.
Kevin Spacey did a really good job with Lex Luther, even though I have no idea what his history with Superman is after watching this movie.
