Depending on whether or not you are a Buckeye fan, you may or may not know that work began yesterday to replace the grass in the Horseshoe with FieldTurf. This was after they had to re-sod the field twice(!) during last season because the grass kept getting ripped up.
I don't mind the new turf so much; I'm not a grass pursit or anything. But, if there had been turf instead of grass back in 2001 when we stormed the field after beating M*ch*gan, we wouldn't have been able to rip the grass up to take home and plant (or throw at the M*ch*gan players, as some people ended up doing).
Here are my thoughts about it, though: it cost about $800,000 to do the whole football field, and it should last at least 10 years, probably 15. How much would it cost to do my yard, and how long would that last, since we aren't going to be playing football on it? Think of it, Kevin wouldn't have to mow, we wouldn't have to worry about weeds or watering, and we would always have beautiful, plush grass in our yard to enjoy. All that time spent killing dandelions could be spent actually enjoying the yard.
What do you think? If OSU can go the way of FieldTurf, can't I?
