I'm working, but not driving, this week

On Saturday, Kevin and I were planning a trip to the Cincinnati area for his cousin Megan's surpise 30th birthday party. We were going to take the drive nice and easy, and stop a lot along the way for breaks. This drive was going to be a little test run to see if I could make it up to Cleveland on May 12th for his brother's graduation from college. But, we never even left the house.

All week last week, I had some dizzy spells where I felt really faint and lightheaded and dizzy. I called the doctor on Friday, and they said that I probably shouldn't drive (and I had had to pull over once on the way to work on Friday morning because of the dizziness, so I agreed), and as long as I didn't actually lose consciousness, I should be fine over the weekend (since I already had an appointment for Monday).

Well, I was all ready to leave the house on Saturday, and I was waiting for Kevin, so I decided to grab a yogurt and sit on the couch until he was ready to leave. That's when the worst dizzy spell yet hit, and I nearly blacked out. I thought for sure we were going to the ER, but Kevin did some common sense things, like make me lay down, elevate my feet and eat an apple, and he called the doctor on call, who said that as long as I was feeling better within an hour, we could just stay home and rest. I was pretty terrified for a bit, though.

My weekend was filled with mostly resting and a few more dizzy spells, but none were as bad as that one. I took yesterday off from work, and went to my doctor's appointment. It turns out that the dizzy spells are hypoglycemic episodes, but they really don't pose a risk to the baby or I, as long as I don't lose consciousness or fall down or anything. Also, I should be able to control it by eating more protein and more frequent snacks, and well, just more in general. She said that she wasn't surprised, given how small I was and how fast my metabolism was prepregnancy.

That said, I'm allowed to work this week as long as I feel up to it, but I'm not allowed to drive. I have another doctor's appointment next Monday, so she can check my progress then.
