Lunch Time Madness

Days like today make me happy to work downtown. Kevin decided to come down and meet me for lunch, and we ate at the cafe next door to where I work. We sat outside under an umbrella, and were very surprised when a parade started! We had front row seats, and it was pretty cool. (No one knows what the parade was for, though.) There were a couple of marching bands, and a ton of little kids marching, as well as other parade things like fire trucks and the lot. After the parade, three military helicopters flew over in some sort of formation. Then, since the main road had been blocked for the parade, all of the public buses started to come down the other street near the cafe to get back on route, which caused quite a commotion. During this entire time, the labor union that is picketing the construction site next to where I work (they are converting an old bank into a hotel) kept marching and chanting and ringing their bells and using their bull horns. All in all, it was very exciting!
