About a week and a half ago or so, I noticed a yellowish-brownish spot on Connor's front two teeth on the bottom. (He only has those two that are fully "in," and he is cutting two more on the top row that are partially visable.) Anyway, I tried brushing it more vigorously, and I even tried scraping it with my finger nails a few times. Nothing worked. The spot remained.
So, for a few days, I debated...was this a dentist trip? Should I call the pediatrician? Finally, I decided. Fearing the worst (baby bottle syndrom, rotten teeth, oral surgery, miniature dentures), I had to call my dentist.
I called my dentist, and it turns out that they don't see children younger than two years of age. I asked them to refer me to the best pediatric dentist in the Central Ohio area, and no surprise to me, they sent me to a dentist in an upscale area of Dublin.
I called that office yesterday, and they got me in this morning. I was super pleased about that...and I finally got some sleep last night, instead of worrying about the poor little guy's teeth.
The visit this morning went well. Connor skipped daycare and came with me to the office, which was fun. Then, Kevin met up with us at the dentist's office (which had a clubhouse for the smaller kids and two playstations for the older kids in the waiting room). The dentist was super nice, and the facilities were all appropriately tot-sized.
It turns out that the spot was just tartar, and the dentist was quickly able to remove it. Connor only shed a few tears, and he never really raised his voice. The receptionists were impressed when we left, because they never heard him make a peep.
Apparently some people produce more tartar than others, and since Connor's two front teeth are very close together right now, he is apparently a prime candidate for build-up in that spot. We got a new toothbrush for him, and we are going to keep an eye on that spot, and if needed, we'll just head back in.
The whole visit took about 30-45 minutes because the dentist very patiently answered all of our questions. And, at $35, I thought it was very reasonably priced.
Color me pleased! Connor has clean teeth.

I'm glad you got it taken care of.. I thought at first it was going to be some liquid vitamin discoloration. My oldest, now four, his teeth turned very dingy looking from liquid vitamins, and brushing didn't seem to help. Once he got on chewables, though, the color seemed to gradually correct itself.
