Kevin went to Wal-Mart last night to pick up some baking soda for me. (That's a story to tell later.)
While he was there, he also picked up a few things that were not on the list, including a new LED bulb for his Maglight, some high efficiency light bulbs for our exterior light fixtures, and a new king size pillow for me.
The reason that he bought me a new pillow is because he had purchased himself a new pillow a day or two ago at JC Penney. When he showed it to me, I asked him if he had bought two, or just one. It made sense to me at the time that I asked that we should replace both of our pillows at the same time. Little did I know then that the reason that he had only puchased one pillow was because of the price of that pillow.
So, last night, I came to discover that he had purchased a $160 pillow! It's a down pillow with a removable, machine washable cover...but it's still just a pillow. As far as I can tell, the down didn't come from golden geese or anything, either.
Fortunately (at least), the pillow was on sale for 50% off. But that still means that he spent $80 on *one* pillow for himself. I knew that we liked nice things, I just didn't realize that we were the type of people who spent so much on pillows.
Know what else you get when you purchase a $160 pillow (besides a feeling of guilt for not buying one for your wife)? An 8 year warranty. We have a pillow with a warranty that will not expire until Connor is 9 years old!
So, since he was feeling guilty that he got a new pillow and I didn't, he went ahead and bought me a new pillow, too. At Wal-Mart. For $16. I think I got screwed.
