Grandpa and Ruth (finally) set a wedding date and sent out invitations. They are getting married near the beginning of November. So, Kevin and I started to think about what to get them as a wedding present.
We checked with Aunt Ann, and they didn't register anywhere. Apparently, just about everyone is stuck as far as gifts go. What do you get for the couple who is already well established in the world? They have three fully furnished homes between them, and I'm sure that anything that they have wanted for themselves, well, they've just gone out and bought it.
So, Kevin and I settled on a really nice bottle of wine, and a homemade gift. I went to the craft store yesterday and picked out a wedding cross-stitch project, and that's what they are going to get. I'm in charge of stitching the cross-stitch and having it framed. Kevin's in charge of picking out the wine.
I asked Kevin if he liked the design that I picked, and he said it looked to "old." When I asked him what he meant, he said that it looked "too old school." I know he was complaining, but I think I picked a good pattern, because well, Grandpa is "old school." He's in his 80s.
So, I don't think either Ruth or Grandpa read this blog...but no spoiling the surprise. And no stealing our idea either!
I'll post pictures of the project as I go.

Great Idea! I'll take it (kidding:) We've been racking our brains as well--and finally just came up with doing their wedding album for them, and maybe a photo book. I did my own album, so it's been awhile---but it took a LONG time to do a traditional wedding album--I may need a babysitter to accomplish this project:)
