A Wonderful Weekend

This weekend was a smash in my book!

We started it out right, both taking a half-day from work on Friday, and Kevin and I met up at the house around 12:30 on Friday afternoon. We then quickly packed up and headed to Cleveland for Grandpa and Ruth's rehearsal dinner.

The rehearsal was in a neat little restaurant where the food was delicious and we had our own room. It was the same place where Kevin's parents, Kirk and Ella, hosted their rehearsal dinner many years ago, which is very sweet. Connor behaved very well in my opinion, only running around a little bit and not being very fussy or noisy, especially considering that he missed his afternoon nap while we were packing and only slept a little bit in the car on the way up.

Speaking of the car trip up to Cleveland, I spent the first 2/3 of the trip finishing up the cross-stitching on the wedding gift for Grandpa and Ruth. I wasn't too worried about finishing it, as I only had a little bit left to do and knew that I could get it done in time. In fact, once I finished all the cross-stitching, Kevin asked me to drive so that he could take a nap, so we switched off about 2/3 of the way there.

Kevin borrowed a great camera from work for the weekend...a Nikon D70 with an 18-200 mm lens. We used it to take pictures at both the rehearsal dinner and the wedding/reception the next day. I'm so glad that he could borrow the camera, it was so nice to use. We bought a new photo editing suite last night, and we are going to work on getting a nice set of photos ready to be shared this week. We are imposing a one week deadline upon ourselves so that we don't sit on the photos for too long.

Aunt Sherry also took photos using her fabulous camera, and she has already edited them and posted them for us to share. I particularly like this one of Connor and I, when we stepped out of the wedding ceremony during the sacrament in order to change Connor's diaper.

Connor also behaved very well during the wedding ceremony. Kevin sat with Connor in a pew for more than 1/2 of the ceremony while I took pictures. They had my purse, so they dumped it out and put everything back in a few times. Connor isn't allowed to play with my purse normally, and Kevin dosn't usually bother it, so it was highly entertaining for both of them, I think. Once Connor finally got tired of that game, he realized that he needed his diaper changed, so Kevin and I switched duties and he took pictures for the remainder of the ceremony while I tended to Connor. Everything went smoothly in my book, and the little guy didn't cause any disruptions at all.

In fact, the only disappointing part of the whole weekend was that I forgot to take a picture of the finished gift for Grandpa and Ruth before it was wrapped up and ready to go! As I mentioned before, I had finished all the cross-stitching on the ride up. But, when we got back to Kirk and Ella's house after the rehearsal dinner, I decided to outline some of the bigger flowers in order to give them some definition and make them stand out a bit more. So, I did that for a bit Friday night, and then again early Saturday morning, as Connor and I were up earlier than just about everyone else. Then, after breakfast Saturday morning, I steam pressed the fabric and was going to frame it, when I discovered that the lady at the craft store had set me up with a mounting board that wouldn't fit into the frame that she sold me! So, Kevin took it to a local craft store and had it framed while I got ready for the wedding. Once it came back it was all packaged up, so we just wrapped the packaging and totally forgot to take a picture of it...but trust me, it looked very lovely. Maybe someday I will see it hanging somewhere and then I can take a picture to document the finished project. (Hopefully they like it enough to hang it up.)

Congratulations go out to the newlyweds, Grandpa Pete and Ruth. They left for their honeymoon in Quebec this morning.

I bet your mother in law could sneak over to the house and and take a picture before it goes to Florida? I don't know if they opened yesterday, or if they'll do that Wednesday when they return?
