It is, according to my desktop weather icon, nine degrees below zero right now. The windchill is somewhere between 20 and 30 below, depending on the strength of the gust.
I just ran downstairs to my favorite coffee shop, and the guy standing behind the counter who took my order was wearing a very floppy, furry hat that covered his ears, and some fingerless gloves.
The guy who made my coffee was clearly wearing more than a few layers of under armor and long johns, a hat, and one glove. I guess you can't make coffee if both of your hands are gloved.
The reason for all of this? The front door, which is only a single door entrance and lets the air right in, is only about 4 feet from the counter where they make the coffee and the cash register sits. So every time someone comes in the front door, they get blasted by the cold.

Our Tae Kwon Do studio is like that---I feel really sorry for the girl who's working the desk (my girls' main instructor)--and on top of that, when we went in yesterday, she was in pain with a back injury from a flying kick the day before--I can't imagine having a back injury and shivering ughhh.
Warm thoughts for all of us!
