Marie Antoinette
Last night, I watched Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette. I love Kirsten Dunst, so I was a little surprised at how flat I thought the movie was. There were so many characters that never got developed or anything. I think that they cut too much to make the movie shorter. Still, it was a pretty entertaining movie, and I had an enjoyable time sitting on the couch to watch it. The costumes were amazing to look at.
One thing that really struck me, though, was the scene where Marie Antoinette was giving birth. I guess it makes sense, seeing as how the baby would be the new King of France if it were a boy, but it seemed a little strange to see all the court gentlemen and ladies just standing around, watching her deliver baby. I guess that maybe that could have been typical in some royal situations.
