Fever!

We were invited to a family birthday party on Sunday, which I really wanted to attend. The problem was that I didn't want to drive there and back. (It's 2.5 hours each way.) I haven't been having much pain from the ovarian cysts lately, except when riding in the car for long periods. In fact, they started hurting Saturday during the 20-25 minute drive to the hospital to see Sara and her new babies.

So, we decided not to travel to Northeast Ohio for the birthday party on Sunday. Instead, we took Connor to the Columbus Auto Show for a few hours. He loved it!! He is such a car guy. I have pictures to post, but I'll do that in a little bit.

Connor had been running a fever that day, but we didn't think much of it. It was 101, give or take a bit, so we gave him some Infant's Motrin, which usually does the trick for him. He seemed to be just fine, really enjoying the cars.

We left the car show just a little bit late for his nap, and he fell asleep in the car on the way home. I moved him to his crib, and since he got a late start, he woke a little later than usual. He called for me once or twice, and he just sounded wrong, so I went to go get him right away.

He was on fire! He was bright red, and I have never felt a person be so hot before. I yelled for Kevin to bring me the thermometer and the Motrin, and I stuck Connor in a warm bath, clothes and all. He didn't like it all, because of course it felt cold to him. When I took his temperature, he was 104.7!!!

We tried to get his temperature down for a little while, with the warm bath water and cool rags on his forehead, and we gave him some more Motrin. But, finally, Kevin asked me, "Who should we call?" All I could think of was 911. So, even though it may have been an over reaction, we had a squad sent to the house.

The guys who arrived told us that we needed to get Connor to the ER, but that the main Children's was really busy today. (I had actually heard before this that they had been breaking records there lately with some strain of strep going around.) So, he suggested that we take him to the Children's over by Mount Carmel East ourselves. We signed some forms refusing their transport and took him over to the other hospital, where they took care of us right away.

Connor has a respiratory infection, and it was spreading to his lungs. His body was trying *very* hard to fight it, thus the super high fever. Even though we were rotating Tylenol and Motrin, he was running at about 102 for the past few days. He has been on antibiotics, and they seem to be doing some good, because today his fever is running lower.

I sure hope he gets better soon!
