A Berry Wonderful Weekend

This past weekend started out early, when Kevin took some time off from work on Friday to take Connor to a farm by our house to pick some strawberries.


They came home with a half-bushel of delicious vine-ripened strawberries!

I made three strawberry pies.


I also made my first-ever batch of preserves!

It wasn't nearly as difficult as I had imagined it would be, but I think I had to reread the directions about a million times before I understood what was going on. I think that illustrated directions would have been nice.

We also had strawberry-banana smoothies and strawberry shortcakes.

Then, Kevin (and Connor) planted our new raspberry bushes and blueberry bushes. Along with our existing strawberry patch, we are going to have so many berries! Yum.


Note the Cars PJs. I told you he loves Cars. I always have a hard time getting his Cars PJs off of him in the morning. Sometimes, he wears them all day. It's a good thing we have two different sets.
