Shower Time

One thing that I have found to be a challenge since becoming a stay at home mom is taking a shower in the morning.

I had been putting child proof door covers on the doors upstairs, so that Connor was confined to the bathroom that I was in, the loft where his toys are, and his bedroom. I figured that way he couldn't get into any *real* trouble while I took a quick shower.

Last week, while showering, Connor started screaming like he was hurt and really scared. So, I hopped out and ran to find him in his bedroom. He was absolutely fine, standing in front of his very large dinosaur book.

(This book is awesome, by the way! It's HUGE and filled with large colorful pictures of different dinosaurs. We found it at Christmas the year before last, and even though Connor wasn't ready for it yet, we HAD to buy it, because it is such a great book.)

Anyways, he was standing in front of the book, screaming, and pointing at the picture of a dino with large teeth. I asked him what was wrong, and he told me that the dinosaur had bitten him! What an imagination!

This week, there has been a new development. Frustrated that he cannot learn how to use the door knob covers, he has decided to learn how to disassemble them instead. He's only done it twice, but now I can't trust that the stupid child proof things are going to keep him out of anything.

So, here I am to ask everyone what they do to take a shower while keeping an eye on small children. Any tips or techniques that you use would be greatly appreciated!

You won't like this--but I've found it easier to just switch to evenings, and yes there are times when I'm just too tired (and the bath time becomes "my time"--you may strongly want to consider it after Alexander is born, because you probably may not want to leave Connor alone with the baby for too long. But I'll tell you I look forward to that time to myself:) (and yes, I can take showers and baths in the morning again at this point when I choose---but now I just don't like to take that time away from the girls).
