Connor and Lex Go to the Bluejackets Game

We took the boys to their first hockey game last night, and it was so much fun!

We had a family four pack of tickets, and even though there are four of us, we didn't need to use a ticket for Lex, so we invited Kelly to come along with us.

Connor had a fantastic time, and even though he asked to go home twice when it got pretty crazy, a well-timed trip to get ice cream and then a box of chocolate milk convinced him to stick it out until the end, including a period of overtime and a shoot-out. Sadly, the Bluejackets lost the shoot-out.

(By the way, I love those Horizon travel boxes of milk, and so does Connor!)

Lex was happy to be there, as per his usual. He even slept through 2 periods of the game, despite the noise, including a canon being fired right by our seats.

We were in the 10th and 11th rows, and anything closer would have been too close for Connor. Those players really hit the glass hard, and then the whole thing moves!

We at dinner at Cotters before the game, and even though it is attached to the arena, and billed as "casual fine dining," it is not really casual at all, nor suitable for small children. I almost panicked when I walked in with Connor and Lex and it was soo quiet, but they were good, and it filled up with other people going to the hockey game, so it turned out all right in the end.

The food was amazing! I had picked the restaurant based on the menu and the opportunity to order good food for Kevin, which I did. (I totally picked and ordered his food for him.) I would eat there again (probably sans kids) in a heartbeat.

In summary:

Tickets to the game: $300
Team apparel for the family: $100
Dinner: $65
Souvenirs: $35
Watching Connor totally jam out while playing air guitar with his hockey stick: Priceless.
