On New Year's Eve, just as Kevin and I were heading to bed (ok, so I guess that means it was really New Year's morning), Connor woke up. It didn't take too long for me to realize that he was HOT. It turns out that he had a fever of 102.9. He had been pretty irritable all day prior to that, but he never acted sick and had no other symptoms. His fever came right down with some medicine, and I kept him on the medicine for 24 hours, he never had any other sort of indication that he was sick. I checked Lex's temperature many times unnecessarily since then, but he never got a fever, fortunately.
When trying to decide on the dosage that Connor needed of Children's Motrin, Kevin asked me how much he weighed. I said 37 lbs. I told Kevin to weigh him, just to check, since the scale was right next to them. Turns out that Connor only weighs 28.4 lbs. I don't know what I was thinking!
Connor is now officially 2 and a half years old (as of December 27th). He has hit the "Mommy, play with me" stage...and he says that a lot! We've been playing with his play dough, his new kitchen (he wakes up every morning and says, "We almost forgot my new kitchen that we bought yesterday!"), his race track and his trains a whole bunch lately.
Since his last haircut, I've been paying extra particular attention to his scalp, and I'm happy to report that his cradle cap is *almost* entirely gone! It has been helpful for him to have shorter hair for a while. Instead of an itchy, flaky, yellow scalp (which he has had since birth), he now has a nice healthy, pink scalp. I've also been extra watchful of Lex's...so that he doesn't get it as bad as Connor did...
While Lex may benefit from having a healthier scalp by being the second born in our family, one thing that he has a problem with that Connor never did is stinky feet. There, I said it. Lex has STINKY FEET! He's not even three months old, what little baby has stinky feet? He gets a bath about every other day (which is plenty often enough for a little tiny baby in the winter) but I still have to wash his feet every day when I wash up his face and hands... He always has blue fuzz stuck between his toes, too, no matter what color socks he was wearing. Somehow red socks and green socks, or even yellow socks, produce blue fuzz between his toes. And tons of it! My cousin Pam would call it "foot sludge." Blue baby foot sludge.
