Connor + Cards = Golf

Alternative Title: "Why Did I Have to Say Hole?

When we were at COSI last week, I picked up a cute set of cards in the gift shop so that Connor and I could play different card games.

We've played a few different games with these cards so far, and today when he got them out and said that he wanted to play, I decided to try to teach him "Go Fish." While explaining the game, I called the pool of extra cards the "fishing hole." I realize now I should have called it the "fishing pond" or anything other than a "hole."

Because as soon as I said the word, "hole," Connor stopped paying attention to me, stopped playing cards, stood up and starting swinging an imaginary golf club. I asked him what he was doing, and he told me he had to swing the club and hit the golf ball into the hole. And he pointed at our pile of cards in the "fishing hole."

And so we aren't playing Go Fish. Instead, he has gone and fetched his driver club and a golf ball, and he is currently attempting to land a shot in our "fishing hole."

Kid cracks me up.

Kid is obsessed with golf.

Lesson learned. Don't use any golf-related words when you don't want to play golf.
