Valentine's Day Date Night

Last night, my Mom came over to watch the boys for us (THANKS, MOM!) so that Kevin and I could go out for a date night.

We started the night with a four course dinner at The Refectory, which was fabulous!

Here is what we ate:

Duet of Smoked Salmon
two mustard mousseline, champagne vinaigrette

Feuillete of Wild Mushroom
St. Amour sauce with truffles

Duet of Roasted Duck Breast and Veal Tenderloin
with a sundried tomato sauce

Grand Marnier & Daquois Entremet
fresh raspberries and raspberry coulis

There are no words to describe the sumptuousness of this feast. Well, except for the fact that there are, and our server described each and every morsel to us in such splendid terms, that Kevin was certain that his presentation of the food enhanced its flavor. Since I'll never do it justice, I'm not going to try. But I will mention that the duet of smoked salmon was my favorite, and I loved that it was served with an edible orchid. No, wait, the wild mushrooms and puff pastry were my favorite!

And then, we left our cozy and quiet intimate dinner and headed to an almost-sold-out concert at the Schottenstein Center. Talk about a complete change of pace!

The Black Eyed Peas ROCKED! We had a fabulous time (it was a good, good night!) and had a great view of the stage, even if we weren't terribly close. I didn't find out about the concert until Friday right before the show, and by the time I got tickets, all the close seats were gone.

The show was fantastic. This video doesn't do it justice at all, but I thought I would post it anyways. You know, so the song gets stuck in your head, too.

Man, I remember when going to the Refectory was, like, my lifelong goal. One that I didn't even consider to be attainable. But now that I have a job, I looked at the menu and was like, "That's how much dinner costs in New York every night." It's so weird to grow up.

Anyway, that dinner sounds great! And I would've never taken you for a Black Eyed Peas fan.
