I have a big baby boy. That's not what I am upset about. He is healthy and happy and that's fantastic in my book.
The thing that upsets me is that the rest of the world is not cooperating with him being 20 lbs at only 4 months old.
First, as you know, we had to move him from the infant carrier to the big car seats. By itself, I can deal with this. Sure, we got to use the infant carrier with Connor for much longer, until he could sit up by himself, which was more convenient, but every baby is different.
But the straw that broke the camel's back happened at Carters clothing store. Everyone knows I love Carters. Or at least I used to.
I noticed that most of the 12-18 month clothes that we had from Connor were for an older baby. This made sense to me, as Connor was older when he was wearing them. He was walking, for crying out loud!
But I still want little footie jammies and onesies and creepers for Lex. Even though he is 12-18 month size, he is still a young baby. So I headed to my favorite source for all baby clothes, and found that they stop making the baby-style clothes at the 9 month size. I complained to the lady at the counter who informed me of this, and she said, "By the time that they are that big, they are usually trying to stand up and walk."
Umm, hello! Lex can't roll over, can't push up on all fours, can't crawl, pull up, stand, cruise or walk. All I want is a stinking sleep-n-play that is big enough for my baby!
I tried all the clothing stores at the mall, and all I found were little sport coats, vests, ties and swimwear. I guess they are all gearing up for Easter and the summer.
I need to get over to Target and see what they have there. Other than that, does anyone have any suggestions for me? You know, other than getting over it...which I may have to do.
P.S. I also discovered at Babies 'R Us that the SwaddleMe blankets that Lex loves to sleep in only go up to 22 lbs. I am seriously considering trying to make my own. But I draw the line at making my own baby clothes at shapeless sacks.

My aunt just bought 18 month fleece sleepers at Carters with footies for Ethan only a few weeks ago.
But I bet they zipped up and had plastic feet bottoms...and that kind doesn't fit Lex well because they only zip on one leg and he has meaty thighs
That's exactly the type we have. But Ethan is cruzing around so he needs the grips on the feet. I once bought some target ones that were like L (maybe XL) size ones and they don't have the grips but it still fits Ethan (they do zip though), we use them as a back up if the others are dirty.
I know we found Target brand baby clothes ran large on our guys compared to the Carter brand so maybe they might work.
I had a hunch that Target would be just the thing!
Target and possibly Old Navy. I haven't shopped at ON in quite a while (2+ years?) but I know when Zo was little they had more larger size baby clothes.
And Kohl's might have options, too.
I find that Old Navy ran very small on a baby who had chunky arms and thighs.
This is sooooooooooooo funny to me, because it sounds just like shopping as an overweight adult. I'm like, "Sure, I need to lose some pounds, but don't punish me by making me wear non-cute bras!"
You're being paid back for a lifetime of being the thinnest person you know. Ha!
