Everyone has a good chili recipe. Some people have more than one.
Last night, I threw together a new type of chili, and I loved it!
Here is the recipe, before I forget how I made it. (All measurements are approximate.)
Brown 1 lb ground beef, seasoned with 1 tbsp minced garlic, 1 tsp Penzey's chili powder, 1/2 tsp onion salt, and 1/2 tsp Penzey's Tuscan Sunset (Italian seasoning).
Using 3 qt pot, mix browned ground beef with the following:
10 oz can Hunt's tomato sauce
14 oz can mild chili beans
14 oz can diced tomatoes, zesty chili flavor
14 oz can wax beans (drained and rinsed)
frozen corn (I poured from the freezer bag into one of the empty bean cans to get the right proportion - one can's worth)
12 oz can Dr. Pepper
2 tbsp Penzey's chili powder
1 tsp paprika
dash onion salt
Stir and simmer until done! Serve with shredded colby cheese and sociable crackers.
Makes 8 servings, 2 cups each.
The chili is spicy and sweet, with a tiny hint of cherry flavor.
(Pam, you must try this. Or have Matt make it for you. Whichever! I know you love Dr. Pepper, and you won't be disappointed.)
