On the day of the party, Penguin got lost. It's a sad fact, but Penguin missed the hog roast.
When I went to put Connor to bed, I realized that Penguin was missing. I looked around for him for about 10 minutes, and I didn't find him anywhere.
I asked Connor if he knew where Penguin was, and he didn't.
Then he said, "That's okay, Mommy. I can just sleep with Bunny instead. We'll find Penguin in the morning. I'm a big boy."
I was floored!!!! I had been prepared for a major meltdown. He would have been well within his right as a three year-old to refuse to go to bed without his Penguin.
But he just grabbed that little Bunny by his hand and took him to bed. He crawled up and fell asleep almost as soon as his head hit the pillow.
I still can't get over it!
Penguin turned up a few hours later, lurking around a pile of wood in the garage. I cleaned the sawdust off the little guy and put him to bed, tucking him in right next to Connor and Bunny.
