Sidebar: I'm still not used to this whole 2011 thing yet.
On New Year's Eve 2011, I took the boys downtown to First Night Columbus. I hadn't been downtown for this annual New Year's Eve event since I was in college, and honestly, I had forgotten how cool it really is. I'm really looking forward to going again next year when the boys are a little bit older and may be able to stay out a little bit later.
We decided to start at COSI, since we have a membership there and get in for free. Then, I figured if the boys lasted long enough and got tired of COSI, we would buy the tickets for the rest of the events and move on. Of course, they never got tired of COSI - they just got tired, and we ended up only doing COSI before going home for bed.
We played at COSI from about 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM that night. We saw some ice sculpting going on outside, including a big bonfire that was entirely encased in an ice cube block! We also saw some people playing cornhole on boards made of ice.
We also watched a flashmob-type-scene going on in the Atrium of COSI for a few minutes before Connor complained that the music was too loud and was hurting his ears. This was right as we were leaving and he was over-tired anyways, so I agreed that we could go.
We left before the fireworks this year, but I hope that next year I can get those boys to stick around long enough to see them.
I got bored with taking traditional photos of the boys while they were playing at COSI that night, so I switched to video. Here, then, are some of the videos that I shot that evening.
P.S. Happy Birthday to Uncle Kyle today!
