The Soon-to-be-Infamous Mixer Episode

You may have heard that Connor and Kevin broke my beloved mixer while making sugar cookies this weekend. Kevin decided to take care of it for me, and I'm still bugging out about how this all went down.

First, he sent an e-mail to the company about the broken mixer (using my e-mail account).

Then, we received a standard response from the company directing us to repair the mixer.

Dear Julie,

Thank you for contacting Sunbeam, a brand of Jarden Consumer Solutions. We apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced with your 3156 and will be happy to help you.

The part or service that you need may be obtained by one of our Authorized Service Centers.

To find the service center nearest you, go to Sunbeam's website or click on the appropriate link:

Kitchen: http://www.sunbeam.com/servicelocator.aspx?section=kitchen

After clicking the above link, select the states in which you require service from the drop down menu. If a service center is not located near you, we recommend expanding your search to neighboring states. Be sure to contact the service center before sending your product to ensure proper service.

Again, I apologize for any inconvenience. We appreciate your business and are happy to help if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,

Manuel

Next, Kevin sent a stern reply to the company telling them that fixing the mixer at our own inconvenience was not so convenient.

Dear Manuel:

I'm terribly sorry that we cannot maintain a business relationship. I'll be taking my business elsewhere unless you send me a free replacement Sunbeam 3156 or similar.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Julie

Finally, I get two messages from the company, one informing me that I will be receiving a new mixer for free, and a second one with a shipment confirmation.

Dear Julie,

Thank you for contacting Sunbeam, a brand of Jarden Consumer Solutions. We apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced with your 3156 and will be happy to help you.

For being a loyal Sunbeam consumer, I will gladly replace your 3156 for you.

I have placed an order for a replacement unit, model 3156, that you will receive within 6-8 business days.

You will receive an order confirmation, shortly as well as a shipping confirmation when our item leaves our warehouse.

Again, I apologize for any inconvenience. We appreciate your business and are happy to help if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,

That's awesome!

However, in this situation, I would have tried to convince my husband I needed a stand mixer. :) I love my kitchen aid for cookie making.

Yes, there was a brief period of me (not so quietly) hinting that I wanted a red or pink kitchenaide for Valentine's Day...but he weaseled his way out of that one...
