Book Report: Delirium

Delirium by Lauren Oliver.

Everyone raves about Before I Fall, Lauren Oliver's first novel, and I do want to read that. But for some reason, I decided to read her second novel first.

Delirium is science fiction, and it's like The Giver mixed with Brave New World. (Two of my favorites.) It's well written, and I really liked it. In this version of the United States, the government is all-controlling, and there is a medical procedure that cures people of amor deliria nervosa (you know, love). Love is illegal, and all 18-year olds are subjected to brain surgery to cure them of it, because love is a dangerous infection.

Of course it is. Anyone can tell you that.

(Yes, Mother, I am still reading Eat Pray Love, too.)
