Train Ride!

On Saturday, we went for a train ride with Nana and Grandpa on the Hocking Valley Scenic Railroad in celebration of Lex's 2nd Birthday.

I have driven past this train station countless times, but I never really realized what it was used for. It wasn't until we were about five minutes away that I realized that I knew exactly where we were going.

Here is the train. Some of the cars were open air, but since it was a chilly October day, we opted to sit in an indoor car.

After a scenic ride through the countryside, we stopped for a brief tour of a pioneer village near Hocking College. I was most excited about the quilt square on the barn. Lex was most excited about the apple he stole from the cider making building, and Connor was happy to ring the (deafening) bell at the school house. We walked around until the train whistle called us back to our seats for the ride back to the station.

If it looks like Lex was contemplating jumping out the window of the train, you'd be right. He tried it (unsuccessfully) shortly after this photo was taken, and I ended up closing the window.
