Our Gingerbread Rocket: A Photo Essay

Last year we entered the Gingerbread House Contest at the Franklin Park Conservatory, and we won third place. Totally a holiday tradition worth repeating, right?

This year we deviated a little bit from the traditional gingerbread house, and we built a rocket. Yes, a rocket made of gingerbread.

Do you see that little red star on the top of the rocket antenna? Lex stole that off and ate it right before we dropped our entry off at the Franklin Park Conservatory. If we don't win this year, I blame him for eating that red star. I'm only kidding. Well, mostly.

In any event, Connor was totally happy with the way his rocket turned out. He is convinced that we are going to win. He said, "We have to win, because everyone else is going to build a plain old house, and we built a rocket!"

Also, he said that he "really, really" wants to win the $500 prize for Best In Show so that he can "put it in his piggy bank." Of course.

I think that the judging was today. I hope to know soon! I'm thinking of taking the boys sometime this week to view all the entries, as they go on display tomorrow.
