What I Did Today

Today I made coffee in my new coffee pot. I had to buy a replacement carafe for my coffee pot after smashing mine up in a sleepy stupor on New Year's eve morning. It took forever for the replacement to arrive, and I've only had it for a few days, so I am savoring the ability to brew coffee without running to Starbucks. Ah, the novelty of home brewed coffee.

Today I made breakfast for the boys. Lex ate Nutella on a banana, Connor ate Nutella on a tortilla, and I had yogurt and granola.

Today I took the boys to the library for story time. It was "Going to the Zoo" theme day. Then, we got the car washed.

Today I exchanged some e-mails with the customer service rep for my juicer about the broken lid. Hours after sending him my credit card information, a new juicer lid arrived on my doorstep. Apparently, Kevin had already taken care of ordering the replacement.

Today I talked to four different customer service representatives at Southwest Airlines. Apparently their software is such that when a transaction doesn't complete, they retry it. This happens even if the credit card is successfully charged but the confirmation e-mail doesn't send. So, we had bought the same plane tickets three times. And it was more than 24 hours after the transaction that I was trying to cancel them. Total headache, and totally not my fault. I didn't even know there was a problem until we noticed a ton of money missing from our account balance.

Today I made Curry Harvest Soup. I tried to make it in a pumpkin bowl, but the pumpkin was falling apart when I scraped the flesh out to put into the soup. I think I over-roasted it. It was still delicious, even if I had to serve it in a soup tureen.

Today I took Lex to the urgent care to buy the most expensive popsicle I have ever purchased. It turns out that only very serious tongue injuries need stitches, and that mouth infections are very rare. But at least I know for sure that his tongue isn't going to get infected and fall out.
