While at Barnes & Noble last week, while Lex was playing with the train table in the kids' area, Connor was reading a book about the Titanic.
In case you have been living under a rock, and don't know, the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic is upon us, and therefore, the Titanic is everywhere.
Also, in case you didn't know, Connor has been sort of obsessed with the Titanic ever since he heard about this giant ship that sunk in the ocean in 1912. No, he hasn't been obsessed since 1912. That's when the ship sank. He's been obsessed since like 2009. You know, when he was about two years old.
So, when there was an entire end-cap of books devoted to the Titanic, well he picked up one of each and sat his little butt down in a chair to read them.
While looking through one of the more picturesque books, he said to me, "Mommy, I didn't know that the Titanic had a wedding room." I looked over and saw that he was looking at photos of the Grand Staircase and some ballrooms. I thought that his description of the spaces as wedding rooms was pretty accurate, and kind of cute, too.
After he was done reading his books, he put them down and went to join Lex in playing at the train table.
And that's when he said it.
With a train in his hand, he said to me,
"Mommy, I know it isn't going to be for a long, long, long, longlonglong time, but when I get married, it's going to be on April 26th."
So, there you have it. He doesn't know which year, or who his bride is going to be, but she better be willing to work with April 26th as their wedding date, because he has already decided upon it.
