LEGOLAND DALLAS

We love Legos.  Did you know that?  Of course you did.  So when we were in Dallas, we simply *had* to visit LEGOLAND.  Nevermind that our hotel was right across the street from it.  It was perfect!

Here is Connor building a race car at the Lego Racers center.

And here he is racing it down a huge ramp:

I built a race car, too, but it got smashed up on its first trip down the ramp.

Yes, there is a well-placed gift shop...and Connor picked out a Lego Hero Factory Hero named Evo.  The boys are pretty much obsessed with the Lego Hero Factory right now.

There was a Mini Land with Lego models of all sorts of Texas landmarks, including the Dallas Cowboys Stadium.  I think that was Connor's favorite.

These photos are mostly for you, Nana.  Cute, no?

We also saw a 4-D movie about a Lego wizard with some knights and dragons.  It was pretty scary for Lex, but it was super cool when it snowed on us!

The best part for us, hands down, was the Kingdom Quest ride.  It was the first attraction we saw, after the introductory tour of the Lego Factory, and the boys wanted to ride it over and over.  Fortunately, there was never a line, so we pretty much hopped off and right back on again.  Over and over and over and overandoverandover.  Thanks to Grandma Ella for taking an entire half-hour shift (at least) with Lex doing it another dozen times or so when Connor was finally ready to move on.

So this ride is actually a lot like their favorite ride at Magic Kingdom:  Buzz Lightyear Star Command.  Or something like that.  You sit in a chariot and ride through various animatronic Lego scenes and shoot at the skeletons and goblins and spiders and monsters that are plaguing the Lego Kingdom.  There were even a few interactive digital scenes, just like a video game.  It was fun.  And I got pretty good at it, too.

See the photo we bought below?  Our scores are displayed, and I am the clear winner!

Grandma Ella came in second place, and Connor beat out Papa Kirk for third.  Lex apparently wasn't pulling the trigger on his gun, but he made up for that with tons of blaster sound effects.  Oh, and Kevin had gone to find us some lunch, so he wasn't riding with us this time.  But trust me, he had ample opportunities to shoot 'em up before that!
