My Grandma and Grandpa moved away when I was a very small child. Probably about the same age that Connor is now. Before that, we all lived in a small town, and my maternal grandparents were next door neighbors to my paternal grandparents. This meant that I saw my grandparents a lot when I was a small kid.
If I remember correctly, this was taken at Rainforest Cafe the first year that Animal Kingdom was open
When they first moved away, we missed them very much. I remember that my Grandma used to send recorded cassette tapes to my little brother and I, you know, instead of letters. They all started the same way: "Hi, Julie and Chris, this is your Grandma Fay...."
Grandpa Bob & Grandma Fay in 2003
I didn't see my Grandma Fay and Grandpa Bob again until the summer after 5th grade, when we started an annual tradition of visiting them in Florida and going to Disney World. We would spend each day of all of our vacations at one of the Disney Parks, or at Daytona Beach. We did this for vacation every year until after I graduated from high school.
On my wedding day
Grandma loved Disney, and one of her favorite rides was the WEDway People Mover in Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom. Her favorite part was the narrator: it was the little teacup, Chip, from the movie
Beauty and the Beast. Eventually the ride was redone with a new narrator, and she never got over it.
Kevin and I took Connor and Lex to meet their Great Grandma Fay and Great Grandpa Bob on April 29, 2011. I recall the date because it was my mom's birthday, and we all called to wish her a Happy Birthday together.
Grandma believed that a lady should never leave the house without red lipstick on. She used to sell Mary Kay cosmetics, and I remember playing with her makeup samples. Sometimes she would give me an eye shadow compact or a lipstick for my very own.

Rest in peace, Grandma Fay. We all love you very much.
