Red, White & Boom! 2012 Edition

This was our second year of taking the boys to Scioto Audubon Metro Park to watch Red, White & Boom.  I would say that it was a success.

I would also say that it was really really really hot.  About 100 degrees.  No, it really was.

To get some small relief from the heat, we set up a few canopies and tents:

We even brought our Jeep tent:

In fact, we brought more stuff with us this year than we did last year.  Connor insisted that we bring Stratego, which was actually a very good idea, as we were at the park from about 12:30 PM until the fireworks started at 10:00 PM.

Joe and Connor playing Stratego.
Joe won.

Logan and Lex coloring an Angry Birds coloring book.

I thought I would look more melt-y because of the heat.
I felt really melt-y.

We grilled veggie ka-bobs, hot dogs and brats for dinner.  Then afterwards, we made s'mores on the grill.  They were fantastic.

Connor and Lex played with their glow sticks/bracelets/necklaces and danced to the soundtrack during the entire fireworks show.  That's why we go to this park, so that they have room to run and play.

P.S.  Remember last year?
