Swim Lessons, Day 2
This is as close as they got to the water today, due to lightening. Instead of getting into the pool, we went into the pool house and the life guards read a couple of Red Cross swim picture books and played games. Honestly, I think that activities like this should be incorporated in swim lessons all the time, not just during inclement weather. I could see Connor learning the arm movements better, without the threat of being splashed in the face looming over him.
Yeah, Connor still doesn't really like the water.
But they both did great yesterday in the water. For the first swim lesson, they went along with their swim coach and two other kids into the water. They did things like blowing bubbles in the water, floating on their backs with support, kicking their feet, jumping in the water with help, and rocket arms. I had no idea what rocket arms were, but I found out today that it is when you put your hands together over your head, with your arms straight up.
The swim program that they are in right now is for beginners aged 5 and under, so they are in the same class. It's based on the Red Cross Learn to Swim program. They swim for 45 minutes each day, four days a week, for two weeks. If they still like it at the end of the two weeks, I'll sign them up again to continue doing it.
There are no lessons on Fridays, but we have been going to the open swim session on Friday mornings every week since Lex was two months old. So, excepting bad weather, they could swim every day for two weeks.
