We read The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything, which I highly recommend for any preschool or elementary school age kid around this time of year. It's a classic, and it's fun to read.
And so Lex started proclaiming, probably on a daily basis, "I'm not afraid of anything."
Which I like.
Anyways.
We took the boys to a Haunted Pirate Ship tonight. When I told them about it at lunch time, they were very excited. Connor said, "That sounds awesome!" And Lex said, "Thank you so much, Mommy!" even though we weren't going to be going for hours.
The Haunted Pirate Ship is held aboard the Santa Maria in downtown Columbus. We had it on good authority that it wasn't too spooky for little children, and the kids had been begging us to go to the Haunted Car Wash by our house, which was definitely NOT age appropriate for them. We figured that this would be fun and satisfy their desire to do something spooky this Halloween.
In fact, we ended up with quite the crowd for our outing:
Which I always like.
While waiting in line, a lady in a costume came and gave the kids glow sticks that they could wave at any of the spooky people on the ship if they were scared, kind of like a magic wand or sword. This was a signal to the spookies that they should back off. Lex took the glow wand, but proclaimed, "I am not afraid of anything."
While on board, we heard the spooky story of Captain Boonie and his cursed pirate ship. At the end of our tour of the Haunted Pirate Ship, we met Captain Boonie himself! And Lex told him, "I am not afraid of you, Captain Boonie!"
To which Captain Boonie replied, "Boo! No? Well then, how are you?"
And Lex said, "Good."
The End
